About GIP
Purpose
We are dedicated to building peace and promoting sustainable development in Latin American communities.
Through innovative and collaborative programs, we seek to transform realities, foster social cohesion and empower people to be agents of change in their communities.
Strategic lines
We do this through our 3 strategic lines:

Accompanying communities

Social appropriation of knowledge

Advocacy and strategic cooperation
Our history
Since our inception, we have evolved steadily, consolidating our position as an organization committed to peace and development initiatives in Latin America.
Over time, we have expanded our impact, guided by the conviction that collaboration and innovation are key to building a more just and peaceful future.

Foundation
We were born in a complex socio-political context in Colombia, with the objective of transforming realities through peace and sustainable development.
Inspired by the vision of creating a lasting impact, we founded GIP to work from the territories and with local actors.

First projects
We launched with the then International Baseball Federation our first project, “My Life is a Diamond,” a baseball program for peace in Medellín and Cartagena.
Shortly thereafter, we designed and implemented the “Sports, Coexistence and Peace” program in partnership with the Colombian government.
Expansion and recognition
During these years, we expanded our programs to 86 territories in Colombia under the “Peace in Movement” strategy.
In 2017, we received the Beyond Sport award for our contribution to sustainable development and peace through sport.

New initiatives and challenges
We launched innovative projects such as “Camino al Ring” and a surfing program, receiving several international recognitions.
However, political changes in Colombia and the lack of financial support led to the termination of “Paz en Movimiento”.
Crisis and reinvention
The pandemic of 2020 brought great challenges, bringing down the organization operationally.
With only one project underway, we had the support of AECID and APC Colombia to be present in Central America, while the other projects were underfunded and limited to remote support.

Renaissance
Thanks to the fact that one of our former allies continued to believe in our work, he pushed us into a new stage to resume some processes suspended in the territory.
Our resilience allowed us to come back stronger and with many lessons learned.

Present and future
Today, GIP remains focused on its mission to use sport for peace and development, not only in Colombia but internationally.
We are a women’s organization, committed to education, the environment, and entrepreneurship, opening new opportunities for the future.
Today we have offices in the USA and Switzerland.
